Annual General Meeting Updates

This year the Annual General Meeting held at Birchwood Intermediate School was well attended, informative and a great opportunity to network with peers.

Here are some updated from the meeting:

1.)  Voting took place on board member positions and there has been some movement among existing members and an addition of an new member.

President: Bethany Toombs

Past President: Jane Munn

President Elect: Cindy Wood

Secretary: Heather Lea-Desai

Member at Large: Marti Pendleton

2.) Call to form a sub-committee of the PEI CA to research our upcoming regulation. The committee would research best practices in  Nova Scotia and New Brunswick’s, outline PEI’s competencies and/or qualifications to be awarded the designation of Registered Counselling Therapist, and figure out the logistics of starting a college of Registered Counselling Therapists.

3.) Member drive: Becoming registered requires funding for legal fees and initial  start up costs, therefor we will have a membership drive to raise funds.

4.) Donations: If you would like to make a donation to our regulation fund please send an e-transfer to the PEICA Treasurer <peicatreasurer@gmail.com>

5.)The board is considering having June 1st be the designated day for paying for PEICA memberships. More information on this as decisions are finalized.

6.)Regulation Committee Update: Legislative Specialist, Nichola Hewitt is assisting us through regulation. There are currently seven professions in front of us and we are hopeful that we will be regulated by the end of the year.

7.) The Tri-PD committee announced that their upcoming pd will be facilitated by Dr. Andre Grace, Ph.D: Growing into Resilience: Sexual & Gender Minority Youth, Comprehesive Health, and the Need for Caring and Accommodating Professional Supports.To register, please click here  https://goo.gl/forms/YhbxQ3fcmr2nFvDZ2. 8.) CCPA National Conference: Will be hosted in PEI at the Delta Convention Centre on May 6-9, 2021
